The Ball’s Falls Thanksgiving Festival has been a Niagara tradition since 1974! 
Gather your family and friends and head to Ball’s Falls Conservation Area this Thanksgiving – there is something for everyone!
Shop from over 150 vendors in the bustling craft and artisan market, treat yourself to delicious foods, sample some of the best local craft beers and wines, and listen to amazing live music on the main stage. For the kids, there is endless entertainment and fun – including free face-painting and crafts, magic shows, and live bird-of-prey shows presented by the Canadian Raptor Conservancy. 
The whole family will enjoy exploring the 1800's heritage village, featuring one of Ontario’s oldest operating gristmills, and heading out on a guided nature hike to take in the bright fall foliage and check out Niagara's Escarpment geology with the Niagara Geopark.

The grounds will open for spectators at 11am on October 18. The show will start at 2:00 pm and will run until all heats and features are complete. There will be food, vendors and a lot of smashing and crashing to be had. Your entry fee is an all access entry with an invitation to walk the pit area to look at the cars or talk to the drivers. Spectators will be limited to the seating area in the covered grandstands. Only drivers will have access to the stands on the pit side of the track. Outside food and drinks are permitted.   NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED

The JUNO Award winning Elmer Iseler Singers (EIS) has been conducted by artistic director Lydia Adams since 1998. This 20-voice professional choral ensemble, founded by the late Dr. Elmer Iseler in 1979, has thrilled audiences internationally, and led the way in developing exciting new choral works and experiences, building a stellar reputation in Canada, the United States and abroad, performing a wide range of repertoire with a focus on Canadian composers.
This concert is part of the Saturday Barrie Concerts series. Single tickets will be made available about 30 days before the concert.

The Elmer Iseler Singers are generously offering us the opportunity to do a workshop with them Saturday afternoon as well as perform 2 pieces with them during the concert.  
Workshop information:
Workshop is free for those also attending the concert, but you MUST have a ticket.
The meal is a vegetarian lasagna, salad, and dessert.  Quantities are limited and tickets must be ordered by Oct. 11.  Only offered to workshop attendees who are also attending the concert.

      About the McMaster Thespian Company:    
  The McMaster Thespian Company is a non-profit theatre organization specializing in developing and performing classical plays in new ways. Shawn Phillips is the man whom Bill Graham called “the best kept secret in the music business”, the man who taught Joni Mitchell her first guitar techniques and also taught George Harrison his first lessons on Sitar, wrote the music to Donovan’s Season of the Witch and has played with many of the finest musicians in the world including Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood.
He has produced 27 albums and is known around the world for his refusal to bow down to commercialism in the music industry. He has done what many singer/songwriters don’t do, which is to continue to evolve his creative skills in his concerts. When he comes to a venue, he brings the sounds of an entire symphony orchestra in real time and plays the songs so many love as closely as possible to what was recorded on the albums. All in real time... all solo! This is a show you do not want to miss. Shawn will be at Hugh’s Room on Wednesday October 8.

Colin Linden’s tale is the stuff of legend, the kind told in the Coen brothers’ O Brother Where Art Thou? or Inside Llewyn Davis, both of which featured his guitar playing on the soundtracks. If there was a film made about Colin Linden, that film would begin with an 11-year-old meeting his music idol Howlin’ Wolf at a matinee show in his nativeToronto, accompanied by his mom who took a picture of the two during a nearly two-hour long conversation before the gig, the legendary bluesman idling over coffee andcigarettes.
“I’m an old man now, and I won’t be around much longer,” Wolf told him. “It’s up to you to carry it on.”
Linden still carries that frayed photograph in his wallet, along with a Sears 5/8” socket wrench in his pocket to play slide guitar. He has taken Wolf’s plea seriously, performing since he was 12 years old. He left home as a teenager to travel the south at the invitation of Mississippi Sheiks delta blues guitarist Sam Chatmon, which took him throughout the U.S. meeting and visiting the sites of his heroes including Brownie McGhee, Muddy Waters, Blind John Davis, Sleepy John Estes, Son House, and others, visiting the landmarks and juke joints, many of which he’s played in during the course of a 45-year career producing and playing blues and roots music. As a singer/guitarist, he’s accompanied everyone from Bruce Cockburn (as his producer and touring musician) to Bob Dylan, Greg Allman, Rihannon Giddens, Pistol Annies, John Prine and more.
Hugh’s Room welcomes Colin for a mini residency of 2 nights! On the first night, Colin will be playing stripped down and acoustic and on the second night, he will appear with a band. A special ticket option to attend both events at a discount is available and encouraged. Friday October 10 and Saturday October 11.

In London, Naked Boys Reading is an intimate nude literary salon featuring in-the-buff readings by local beefcakes, bears, twinks, otters, butch femmes, sissy sluts, boys next door with an exhibitionist streak and lovers of naturism with a well-endowed library.

By the end of the session, you’ll have your own set of handmade granny square Croc covers and patterns to use for future projects.
All materials are included in the workshop fee, and complimentary drinks and snacks will be provided to keep the creativity flowing. Please note, you must provide your own crocs. 
Note: A basic understanding of crochet is recommended for this workshop. If you’re new to crochet, we encourage you to take our beginner-friendly Crochet Shoelace Workshop first. This event is suitable for ages 12+.

Join RAW Taiko for an introductory exploration of the rhythms and sounds of taiko. Together, we’ll learn about the drums, experience the reverberations of joy, rage, power and support that they have to offer us, and ease into the physical movements of taiko at the pace of our own bodies. No experience or musical background required!
Who is RAW Taiko? 
RAW Taiko, originally established in 1998 as Raging Asian Women Taiko Drummers, is a Toronto-based organisation made up of East and Southeast Asian women and gender non-conforming drummers. We carry on the diasporic taiko tradition that grew out of Asian American and Asian Canadian participation in racial and gender justice movements of the 60s and 70s. RAW Taiko plays large drums as creative resistance for social change, carving space for self-expression, education and community building.
This series is produced and offered by RAW Taiko, with generous support from community partner Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, and funding from the Community One Foundation.
